Organizational Capacity Building
We have a range of services aimed at helping humanitarian organizations and NGOs of all sizes enhance their organizational capacity. We contextualize management approaches to help organizations improve compliance with core standards or develop operational manuals, to strengthen internal financial and accountability systems, or to support dispersed organizations to improve management across their field offices.

Training And Development
We have over twenty years’ experience training humanitarian and disaster management staff across the world. Our training and development work is driven by a commitment to support the people at the frontline. We believe the best way to help beneficiaries is through skilled and committed people on the ground, accountable for upholding core standards. As a bilingual (English and Somali) firm with an insider’s perspective, we provide training that is relevant, engaging, and sensitive to local context. Humanitarian Translation Services
We provide preparation of training contents, We are experts in English to Somali and Somali to English translation for the humanitarian and international development sector, including Somali dialects and technical terminology. With specialized knowledge in Agriculture, Gender, Governance, Health, International Humanitarian Law, Human Rights, Education, Nutrition, Protection, Livelihoods, M&E, Stabilization and Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) we provide translations that are contextualized, comprehensible and culturally sensitive.

Project Management
The African Consulting provides temporary or ad-hoc operational capacity for organizations, supporting or managing activities across all stages of the project cycle, and delivering tailor-made one-off or longer-term relief and recovery programmes. We therefore reduce an organization’s need to set-up infrastructure in a country they may have limited ground-level access to. TAC navigates the complexity of politically unstable and high-pressure humanitarian environments to deliver immediate community resilience, and long-term sustainability and empowerment. Our services incorporate conducting needs and resource assessments, project and partner identification, project design and proposal writing tailored to beneficiary needs, donor requirements and the implementing partners’ wishes, stakeholder analysis and mapping, project implementation, monitoring and evaluation and logistical support across the project life span.

Humanitarian Services

Surveys
We conduct various surveys, political, economic analysis and assessments for clients operating in complex areas. The survey covers risk analysis, context dynamics, needs identification, opportunities for intervention, and feasibility surveys. Surveys also cover perception and opinion surveys. African's staff of local researchers allows for in-depth assessments in challenging locations, without the need for translators.

Market Research
A market assessment is a rapid snapshot of which goods and services are available, and an idea of how satisfied consumers are with those goods and services offered in markets. African conducts market assessments at the grassroots level, as well as in-depth market research and labor studies for private sector clients in major market locations.

Monitoring
We set up monitoring systems for our clients, enabling them to easily manage information for justified decision making, accessible through a simple “click”. This includes mapping systems, database management, links to evidence, portfolio of images and videos linked to a georeferenced map for virtual field visits. We provide simplified interactive data management dashboard, easy to use to support the client in conducting specific analysis per filter of their interest.

Third Party Monitoring
We provide third-party verification of activities in the areas with limited access to confirm occurrence and status of activities encompassing the processes. Our network becomes your eyes and ears on the ground, we deploy field observations (FO) supported by dates and geo-referenced photos and videos, but also, we collect opinion from the community through KIIs and FGDs. Our call center is used by the community through solid trust mechanism to call us to report to us any matter on the project.

Evaluation
Based on a detailed understanding of project implementation in complex areas, we develop a random sampling of respondents for quantitative surveys, and we contextualize projects outputs and outcomes providing evidence-based conclusions and opinions. We also conduct KII and FGD in a purposive sample and affine our measurement and interpretation of key findings. We use our call center to call people, for simple and low budget evaluations.
